On March 11th, 2020, a group called GIA (Group of Intellectuals and Academicians) submitted a fact-finding report on the Delhi riots to the Home Ministry. The group then announced that a book Delhi Riots 2020: The Untold Story, based on this report would be launched on August 22, 2020.

It was a winter of hope. The protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the proposed National Register of Indian Citizens were raging across the country. The two with the purpose of splitting the country along religious lines, were in fact beginning to unite people in defence of India’s secular constitution.
