Dear Karwan-e-Mohabbat team,
My name is Dr Kathryn Hummel and I’m a writer and researcher from Australia, currently working at a university in Hyderabad. During the first phase of lockdown, I wrote a series of poems (both inward and outward looking) that is now likely to be published as a chapbook/pamphlet by Delhi’s Red River Press.
I would like to make an arrangement to donate the funds from sales of this book, after production costs are covered, to an organisation working to provide relief to those variously impacted by lockdown, unlock and the pandemic in India. I’ve known of your work for some time and wanted to ask if you’d be open to receiving a donation of this kind in conjunction with the publication.
It’s not for my own publicity or because I’m (heaven forbid) a neo-colonial white saviour, but because I have visited India on and off for years; now I live and work here; like many others I was trying to give during lockdown, but this is a contribution that uses my actual skills and is somehow more tangible than an anonymous donation.
If you are interested in discussing this further, kindly email me @ email@example.com. I’d be happy to send you a draft of the manuscript if necessary. If you are not interested, could I ask you to point me in the direction of an organisation that might be?
Many thanks for your time,
