2 Years of Police Crackdown on Jamia Millia Islamia University
“The police barged inside our campus and beat up students. Students were attacked inside the library. They were abused for being Muslims and Kashmiris and the police was punishing them for daring to protest.” said Akhtarista Ansari, student activist from Jamia, at a Press conference marking two years of police attack on Jamia Millia Islamia during anti-CAA protests.
15 December 2019, the police brutally attacked students of Jamia Millia Islamia University for protesting against the newly enacted Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). They fired tear gas shells inside the library, beat the students with batons and hurled racial slurs at them. What followed for the next few months made history as students stood firm and resilient and continued to protest against CAA.
The movement has not ended, the students continue to fight to save their country.
